The SenSys/BuildSys 2022 Joint PhD Forum (Doctoral Colloquium) seeks to provide a friendly, supportive, and constructive environment for doctoral students to explore and develop their research interests in an interdisciplinary workshop, under the guidance of a panel of distinguished researchers. The forum provides an excellent opportunity for Ph.D. students to present their dissertation research, including work in progress, to the wider embedded networked sensor systems community. This meeting offers an opportunity to share experiences with other Ph.D. students and meet with accomplished international researchers from industry and academia and obtain feedback from them.

The PhD forum is a tradition for SenSys and other embedded / mobile computing venues (MobiSys, IPSN, MobiCom, UbiComp and others). We invite students who publish in these and related venues to consider submitting their work. The goal of the forum is to help our community's youngest researchers achieve their full potential via feedback at a critical stage.

Authors of accepted submissions are expected to participate in the Doctoral Colloquium event. There will be no separate registration fee for the Doctoral Colloquium. Accepted PhD Forum abstracts will be non-archival, but will be posted on the conference website for the conference.

Best PhD Forum Presentation Award: All presenters will be eligible to compete for the Best PhD Forum Presentation Award, which will be accompanied with a certificate and monetary award provided by a sponsor.

Best Community Contribution Award: All presenters will be eligible to compete for the Best Community Contribution Award, which celebrates junior researchers who are already trying to better the research enterprise via open tools, hardware, and software. The award is accompanied by a certificate and monetary award provided by a sponsor.

Free Registration: Conference registration is free this year. Please remember to register asap.

The abstract should also include a one-paragraph biography of the student, including the names and affiliations of the research advisor(s), and the expected date of dissertation submission. Generally, Ph.D. students who have published a portion of their thesis will benefit the most from this forum. Ph.D. students of all stages are welcome to attend the forum, even if they are not at a stage where submitting an abstract makes sense
